What is Boulder?

Boulder Care is a digital clinic that offers long-term support and telehealth treatment for substance use, including alcohol use disorder (AUD) and opioid use disorder (OUD). Dedicated Care Teams deliver evidence-based care and help you work toward your unique recovery goals.

  • Clinicians

who specialize in addiction (as well as family medicine, reproductive health and psychiatric support), can prescribe medication, address co-occurring health conditions and social determinants of health, and customize care plans to each individual.

  • Care Advocates

offer expert care coordination and navigation, including helping members get into the right level of care at the right time, resolving pharmacy issues, helping with scheduling, and facilitating high-touch referrals to other providers.

  • Peer Specialists

are nationally certified and bring their own lived experience of recovery to guide patients in setting goals, tracking their progress, and accessing local resources.

Why Boulder?

Boulder makes accessing care as frictionless as possible. We will work with you to determine a customized course of treatment, tailored to your unique goals. We are a more effective, affordable, and less disruptive alternative to conventional treatment options.

  • In-patient facilities

such as rehabs cost on average $30,000 for a 1-month stay and 75% of patients are readmitted within 90 days. Many rehabs are associated with higher overdose rates, lack of regulation, and increased mortality in the weeks following a patient’s discharge.

  • Outpatient “brick-and-mortar” care

still presents numerous logistical challenges— such as time and transportation to attend an average of 131 in-person visits per year. This includes frequent unnecessary drug testing that is not evidence-based.

  • Faith-based and
12-step programs

are helpful to some, but ineffective or harmful to others. Many programs are also abstinence-only, and penalize or discharge patients for the very symptoms of addictive disease — like returning to use — rather than providing them with additional support.

“I love Boulder; the convenience, the privacy of being in my own home, the relationship I have built with my peer coach—it is all life changing.”
